Dayna Obaseki, Committee Clerk called the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee meeting to order on February 16, 2023 at 1:01 p.m., in the Council Chambers, Regional Administrative Headquarters, 10 Peel Centre Drive.

Mayor Crombie arrived at 1:04 p.m.

Mayor Groves departed at 1:58 p.m.

Other Councillors present: J. Horneck and M. Russo.

  • RECOMMENDATION PPC-1-2023
    Moved byCouncillor Brown

    That Councillor Parrish be elected as Chair of the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee for a 24 month term ending February 16, 2025 or until a successor is appointed.

  • RECOMMENDATION PPC-2-2023
    Moved byCouncillor Groves

    That Councillor Medeiros be elected as Vice-Chair of the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee for a 24 month term ending February 16, 2025 or until a successor is appointed. 

  • RECOMMENDATION PPC-3-2023

    That the agenda for the February 16, 2023 Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee meeting, be approved.

    That the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee proceed into “Closed Session” to consider reports relating to the following:

    • Appointment of Community Members to the Region of Peel Accessibility Advisory Committee - Applications Package (Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)
    • Appointment of Community Members to the Region of Peel Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Committee – Applications Package (Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)
    • Appointment of Non-Elected Members to the 2022-2026 Audit and Risk Committee – Applications Package (Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)
    • Community Member Appointment to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board – Applications Package (Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)

Appointment of Community Members to the Region of Peel Accessibility Advisory Committee - Applications Package

Pursuant to its authority under Regional Council Resolution 2022-111, the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee established the following interview panel for the appointment of community member(s) to the Region of Peel’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC):

  • Councillor Keenan
  • Councillor Mahoney
  • Councillor Russo
  • Councillor Parrish
  • Councillor Early
  • Chair Iannicca
  • Councillor Medeiros

The Regional Clerk was directed to schedule interviews with the candidates identified by the Committee.

Appointment of Community Members to the Region of Peel Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Committee – Applications Package

 

(Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)

Pursuant to its authority under Regional Council Resolution 2022-111, the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee established the following interview panel for the appointment of community member(s) to the Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism Committee (DEAR): 

  • Councillor Toor (DEAR Member)
  • Chair Iannicca
  • Councillor Parrish
  • Three (3) additional elected members from DEAR

Direction was given to the Director of Culture and Inclusion regarding the identification of candidates representing all three local municipalities.

The Regional Clerk was directed to schedule interviews with identified candidates.

Appointment of Non-Elected Members to the 2022-2026 Audit and Risk Committee – Applications Package

Pursuant to its authority under Regional Council Resolution 2022-111, the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee established the following interview panel for the appointment of community member(s) to the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC):

  • Councillor Horneck (ARC Chair)
  • Chair Iannicca
  • Councillor Medeiros
  • Councillor Vicente (ARC member)
  • Councillor Damerla
  • Two (2) additional elected members from ARC

The Regional Clerk was directed to schedule interviews with the candidates identified by the Committee.

Community Member Appointment to the Regional Municipality of Peel Police Services Board – Applications Package

 

(Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees)

Pursuant to its authority under Regional Council Resolution 2022-111, the Regional Council Policies and Procedures Committee (PPC) established the interview panel for the appointment of a community member to the Peel Police Services Board to be comprised of a majority of members of the PPC.

The Regional Clerk was directed to schedule interviews with the candidates identified by the Committee.
